Benjamin Carson

Is a highly celebrated pediatric neurosurgeon, born in Detroit, Michigan. Raised by a single mother, Benjamin had early trouble in school but graduated high school with honors and attended Yale University. Carson started off as an adult neurosurgeon but became interested in pediatrics. At age 33 he became John Hopkins Hospitals' youngest major division director. He went on to be the first surgeon to successfully separate Siamese twins, and was later awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008.
